Hatch Restore 3 Sunrise Alarm Clock: A Plain Buying Guide Before You Buy

If your phone is the last thing you look at at night and the first thing you grab in the morning, the Hatch Restore 3 is built to change that. Hatch calls it a smart sleep clock. In plain terms, it is a sunrise alarm clock, a sound machine and a soft bedside light in one device. You set it up through a phone app, then run it with buttons on the clock itself.
One thing up front: I have not tested this one myself. Everything below comes from Hatch's own product page and the Amazon listing, so read this as a buying guide, not a hands-on review.
What the Hatch Restore 3 Does
The sunrise alarm is the main idea. Instead of a loud beep, the light slowly brightens like dawn, which Hatch says supports your natural body clock and helps you wake up gently. At night, the same device plays sleep sounds. The Amazon listing says there are 80 plus sleep sounds, and the clock face is dimmable so it does not light up your room.
It also runs bedtime routines. You pick light and sound pairings in the app, such as meditations, and the clock plays them for you when it is time to wind down. The goal is a screen-free bedroom.
The Buttons
This is where the Restore 3 differs from an alarm app on your phone. Per the product description, one Big Button starts your routine, adjusts the volume and snoozes the alarm. A Swap Button switches between up to three of your favorite bedtime routines. A Pause Button stops whatever is playing. A separate Bedside Light Button gives you a quick night light without reaching for your phone.
Who the Hatch Restore 3 Is For
It fits people who want to stop using their phone as an alarm, people who like falling asleep to sound, and anyone who finds a sudden alarm a rough way to start the day. If you want a set routine at night and a gentler wake up in the morning, this is the kind of device it is made for.
It may not be for you if you only want a plain alarm clock, or if you do not want to use an app. The Restore 3 also does not track your sleep. Tom's Guide notes that Hatch now sells a separate, newer Sleep Clock with contact-free sleep tracking at a higher price, so if tracking matters to you, look at that one as well.
What to Check Before You Buy
The app and Wi-Fi. The listing says you use the free Hatch Sleep app on iOS or Android, with Bluetooth for setup and stable Wi-Fi for everyday use. Make sure your bedroom gets a good signal.
The subscription. Hatch+ is a paid add-on that gives you more content, such as meditations, sleep stories and seasonal releases. Your purchase includes a 30-day free trial for new subscribers. After the trial, the Amazon listing shows $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Prices can change, so check the current terms before you commit.
The price. Hatch lists the Restore 3 at $169.99 on its own site, with free shipping and returns, a 30-night bedside trial and a 1-year warranty. Amazon prices can differ by seller and by day, so check the live listing.
The size and color. It measures about 7.24 by 2.43 by 5.31 inches, according to Tom's Guide, and comes in Putty, Greige and Cocoa. All three are soft neutral shades.
